what vehicles or work do you specialize in?

We work on most all years, makes, and models 1996 and newer. While we provide full-service automotive (anything oil changes to engines), we do specialize in alignments.

is your technician ase-certifed?

Yes, our automotive technician has completed extensive training through automotive and diesel college as well as attends ongoing education to ensure he has the newest information and has been ASE-certified since 2005, maintaining those certifications throughout.

will i get an itemized estimate before work is performed?

Yes, we will provide an estimate through email or text for you to review and decide what services you want to have done. There is no pressure- we just provide the facts and give you the tools to make an informed decision.

what are your prices for common services?

We perform simple alignments for around $150. If it is a newer vehicle and has a steering angle sensor that needs to be calibrated, the alignment is around $235. Most oil changes cost between $125-$150 depending on the amount of oil your vehicle takes and what filter it requires. We are happy to provide estimates for services not listed here, as costs may vary vehicle to vehicle.

why can’t i bring my own parts?

Unfortunately, we cannot install customer-provided parts and still offer our warranty of 24 months/24,000 miles. Also, if we purchase the part and there is some sort of issue (which happens often), you are not stuck trying to figure out the parts issue. We ensure compatibility and handle any issues that may arise, so you don’t have to. We have very competitive pricing as far as parts and try to pass savings along to our customer.

why do you offer inspections? i know what is wrong- can you just fix that?

We offer inspections instead of going off assumptions of what may be causing your issues with your vehicle. We find that while many people have done research and are pretty sure about what may be wrong with their vehicle, they are often incorrect or may be missing a contributing piece. Our goal is to actually fix your issue/complaint that you came in with and not band-aid it until it acts up again. If we can get a solid complaint about why you are requesting service, we can inspect all components related to the possible issue and advise how to fix the issue with the least amount of unnecessary repairs.

If you are certain you just want a certain part replaced, we can do that, however, there is no guarantee that will solve your issue.

As stated above, with 25 years of experience in the automotive field, we have come in contact with countless different issues and look forward to using our expertise to solve your vehicle issue.

how much do you charge for inspections/diagnostics?

We start at $75 for basic inspections and it can go up to $150 for more detailed diagnostics. We keep you informed throughout the process and will request more time for diagnostics as needed.

why do you request i drop my car off for service and not wait for it?

There are many different factors that contribute to the schedule of an automotive shop. We ask you to drop off, so as to respect your time and ours. While we ask for drop-offs in the morning, your vehicle may get in first thing in the morning and may not come into the shop until the afternoon. This is based on previous vehicle appointments and what is still in the bays being finished up, also parts plays a big role as to what gets into the shop first, and finally we are in a small space and do not have much room for waiters. Luckily we are attached to the Roosters Crow Cafe and Crooked Cauldron. Both places have a nice seating area, wi-fi, and serve delicious food and drink options. (We love the free smells!!)

are you a napa auto care center and what does that mean?

Yes, we are a Napa Auto Care Center, which means that every service comes with a 24 month/24,000 mile warranty at countless locations across America that will honor the warranty from Backcountry Motors. Napa will take care of the service cost should there be any issues.

i saw the same parts for cheaper on xyz website… why can’t you just use those parts?

We understand the cost of parts has gone up, however, we are not willing to sacrifice quality. We are particular about the parts we put on your vehicle because of the high failure rate of parts. We choose to use many OE (original equipment) parts and only use high quality parts from Napa and other part stores. We have tested parts and have learned what brands we trust, and those that we do not. If we wouldn’t put it in our own vehicle, we won’t put it in yours.
